Spring has arrived in North Carolina

A few photos of a short early spring jaunt to the North Carolina Zoo, the cities of Durham and Raleigh, and neighboring parks.

The Zoo has open space for large animals where they can roam widely.

And smaller displays for the other animals. What the zoo lacks in animal variety, it provides in animal friendly enclosures.

Around downtown Durham, North Carolina

A must visit in Durham is the Duke Gardens on the campus of Duke University.

North Carolina State Capitol, Raleigh and surrounding statues.

Raven Rock State Park

A new state park along the Cape Fear River, that has paths crossed by tree roots and full of Quarts rocks that are sometimes huge.

Some of the paths border a small stream and leads to what is called Raven Rock - 150-foot crystalline structure that overlooks the Cape Fear River.
